Laurie, AISD School Board Candidate
I’m Laurie Solis and I am running for Austin ISD Board Trustee to represent South and Southwest Austin, District 7.
I believe strong schools are built through family voice, teacher collaboration, and community partnership—with students at the center. I’m a practical problem-solver who knows how to build relationships, connect families to resources, stretch a dollar, and get things done.
I came to Austin for UT and fell in love with its diversity, energy, and community. For more than 19 years, my husband and I have raised our three children in South Austin, within walking distance of Bowie High School. Our two oldest are Bowie graduates, and our youngest is a rising 10th grader.
I’ve been a mom, working mom, homemaker, volunteer, mentor, substitute teacher, and PTA leader. Through every role, I’ve learned to show up, listen, collaborate, and get to work.
